Why Photography
I have been into photography since the age of eight (I muse that I am addicted to light sensitive substances), and there are two things that continue to excite and motivate me:
The Logo and Busines Name The business is about light, fire and beauty, and the fuel for the fire. The initials of my business convenitently stand for the I Ching trigram of "Li", meaning fire, or beauty, or both. The notes that go with this hexagram explain that while the fire is highly visible and noticeable, it is the less visible fuel on which it is dependent. Translated to photography, it is the fuel of your person or business that is essential for the creation of images that shine - adding more impetus again to the original fuel What is an EMOTIONALLY CLEAN image? It is an image that expresses the best values of the person, service or product being depicted, without any clutter of not quite on the mark faciial expressions, lighting or post production that does not fully work for the message. And particularly with people, it does not introduce secondary unnecessary or innapropriate messages, for exampkle: a CEO who look like they are modellign a suit (not good); of a bride who looks sleazy (WORNG!) or of a customer care manager who looks like he would rather be somewhere else... EMotionally clean images depict the relevant feeling and emotion uncluttered by distractions or subtle messages that work against the original intention. The ability to produce images that do this can not be learned through technical study, in manuals or at university. |
When you require photographic images to convey the positive aspects and integrity of yourself and loved ones, or of your business and what it does to improve the lives of its clients, please ask yourself whether you deserve images that express your most positive values and integrity, and make it plain for all to see and if your prospects and clients have an appreciation of what is good and right and recognise integrity when they see it, and when they find it, will go that extra mile to keep with it, in part via your business! My core belief is that providing images to help sell products and services need not, in fact should not, be at the expense of the individuals depicted. The products and services we offer in our business are based on our inner valuing of ourselves, our clients and all those with whom we work to achieve viable and sustainable business. In the case of portraits and wedding photographs, my aim is to provide images that embody positive human values. |
