Richard Lee
Profile
Born in 1970, Richard Lee spent the first few years of his life in remote North Western Australia then grew up in a rural area on the Eastern side of the country. Lee studied painting at the Australian National University-Canberra School of Art from 1989 - 1993 during which time he also spent one year in Japan. Lee has an enduring interest in Eastern ink painting and philosophies.
He completed studio residencies at Red Gate Gallery as well as Imagine Gallery in Beijing where he also held a very successful solo exhibition. Since then Richard Lee has been living in Beijing for the past two years.
Lee was invited to exhibit in the Mossman Regional Galleries'(Sydney) Westpac Redlands Art prize in 2005. His work was exhibited in the Melbourne Art Fair in 2006 and was also included among the Australian representation at The Shanghai International Art Fair in 2007. Lee's work is represented in Galleries in Canberra and Beijing.
